Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi
DMK | Thiruverumbur | ટ્રેલિંગ
Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is seeking a third consecutive term from the Thiruverumbur constituency in the 2026 Assembly elections, positioning himself on a mix of development claims and welfare initiatives.
A third-generation DMK leader, Poyyamozhi is the son of late party leader Anbil Poyyamozhi and grandson of DMK stalwart Anbil Dharmalingam. He first won the Thiruverumbur seat in 2016 and retained it in 2021 with a margin of nearly 50,000 votes, consolidating his hold over the constituency.
Thiruverumbur, located along the Cauvery’s southern bank, presents a complex governance landscape with a mix of urban and rural needs, supported by industries such as BHEL, the Ordnance Factory and the Golden Rock Railway Workshop. While development work — such as bio-mining at the Ariyamangalam dumpyard — has been cited as a visible intervention, residents continue to flag concerns over infrastructure gaps and civic issues.
AIADMK’s P Kumar, who lost to Poyyamozhi in 2021, has once again challenged him, accusing the minister of failing to deliver on repeated promises, while other candidates have raised concerns around education infrastructure and local development.
Despite these challenges, Poyyamozhi’s campaign rests on his electoral track record, development push, and organisational backing within the DMK.
