Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,44,890 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,20,032 were male, 1,24,826 female and 32 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,31,520 registered voters, of which 1,20,032 were male, 1,17,063 female and 10 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,96,884 registered voters in this constituency, of which 99,863 were male, 97,015 female and 6 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,93,094 which included 97,425 male, and 95,669 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Aditya Madhi of BJP won in this constituency beating Mala Madhi of INC by a margin of 25,569 votes which was 15.14% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Manasmadkami of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Mala Madhi of INC by a margin of 3,312 votes which was 2.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Mukunda Sodi of BJD won this seat defeating Nabin Chandra Madkami of INC by a margin of 10,906 votes which was 11.24% of the total votes polled for the seat.
