In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,38,781 registered voters, of which 1,30,939 were male, 1,12,584 female and 6 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,18,354 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,16,543 were male, 1,01,810 female and 1 of the third gender. In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak of BJD won in this constituency beating Bijay Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 15,663 votes which was 8.62% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Bijoy Mohapatra of BJP by a margin of 23,246 votes which was 13.66% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak of BJD won this seat defeating Balaram Parida of INC by a margin of 19,595 votes which was 13.55% of the total votes polled for the seat.
