In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Ramesh Chandra Sai of BJD won in this constituency beating Bhagirathi Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 47,184 votes which was 29.3% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Surendra Kumar Pradhan of INC by a margin of 19,533 votes which was 13.86% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo of BJD won this seat defeating Mousumi Pradhan of INC by a margin of 18,981 votes which was 15.11% of the total votes polled for the seat.
