Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,46,622 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,26,268 were male, 1,20,334 female and 20 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,37,577 registered voters, of which 1,26,268 were male, 1,13,737 female and 34 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,16,590 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,15,092 were male, 1,01,488 female and 10 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 2,11,982 which included 1,11,014 male, and 1,00,968 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Bishnu Charan Das of BJD won in this constituency beating Ramakanta Bhoi of BJP by a margin of 40,386 votes which was 23.29% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Rajashree Mallick of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Rajkishore Behera of INC by a margin of 35,448 votes which was 22% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Rabindra Nath Bhoi of BJD won this seat defeating Rajkishore Behera of INC by a margin of 34,182 votes which was 24.4% of the total votes polled for the seat.
