Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,46,424 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Khordha Assembly election, of which 1,25,707 were male, 1,20,703 female and 14 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,42,259 registered voters, of which 1,25,707 were male, 1,16,644 female and 15 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,15,865 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,13,689 were male, 1,02,171 female and 5 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 2,06,289 which included 1,08,476 male, and 97,813 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Jyotirindra Nath Mitra of BJD won in this constituency beating Kalucharan Khandeitaray of BJP by a margin of 10,043 votes which was 5.81% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Rajendra Kumar Sahoo of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Jyotirindra Nath Mitra of BJP by a margin of 6,597 votes which was 4.16% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Rajendra Ku Sahoo of IND won this seat defeating Jyotirindra Nath Mitra of IND by a margin of 3,235 votes which was 2.56% of the total votes polled for the seat.
