Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,41,579 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Jatni Assembly election, of which 1,22,604 were male, 1,18,939 female and 36 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,37,894 registered voters, of which 1,22,604 were male, 1,14,861 female and 36 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,06,792 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,09,205 were male, 97,583 female and 4 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,91,962 which included 1,01,034 male, and 90,928 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Suresh Kumar Rautray of INC won in this constituency beating Bibhuti Bhushan Balabantaray of BJD by a margin of 7,539 votes which was 4.7% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Bhagirathi Badajena of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Suresh Kumar Routray of INC by a margin of 5,747 votes which was 3.95% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Bibhuti Bhusan Balabantaray of BJD won this seat defeating Suresh Kumar Routaray of INC by a margin of 14,925 votes which was 12.85% of the total votes polled for the seat.
