Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,43,734 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,25,696 were male, 1,18,011 female and 27 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,29,773 registered voters, of which 1,25,696 were male, 1,09,752 female and 26 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,02,941 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,08,527 were male, 94,413 female and 1 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,88,975 which included 99,444 male, and 89,531 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Bishnu Charan Sethi of BJP won in this constituency beating Rajendra Kumar Das of BJD by a margin of 4,625 votes which was 2.8% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Muktikanta Mandal of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Bishnu Charan Sethi of BJP by a margin of 9,192 votes which was 6.17% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Rajendra Kumar Das of BJD won this seat defeating Bishnu Charan Sethi of BJP by a margin of 4,944 votes which was 3.96% of the total votes polled for the seat.
