Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,13,223 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Bhubaneswar Madhya Assembly election, of which 1,15,077 were male, 97,984 female and 162 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,38,710 registered voters, of which 1,15,077 were male, 1,04,201 female and 175 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,22,445 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,28,524 were male, 93,831 female and 90 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 2,25,828 which included 1,34,464 male, and 91,364 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Ananta Narayan Jena of BJD won in this constituency beating Jagannath Pradahan of BJP by a margin of 11,442 votes which was 11.31% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Bijaya Kumar Mohanty of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Jagannath Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 22,389 votes which was 24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Bijaya Kumar Mohanty of BJD won this seat defeating Biswabhusan Harichandan of BJP by a margin of 34,985 votes which was 45.89% of the total votes polled for the seat.
