Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,17,345 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,12,443 were male, 1,04,879 female and 23 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,15,252 registered voters, of which 1,12,443 were male, 1,02,881 female and 5 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,95,553 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,03,485 were male, 92,063 female and 5 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,88,949 which included 99,448 male, and 89,501 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Rajendra Kumar Sahoo of BJD won in this constituency beating Pradeep Kumar Sahoo of INC by a margin of 20,048 votes which was 12.89% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Prasanta Kumar Jagadev of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Pradeep Kumar Sahoo of AOP by a margin of 43,425 votes which was 30.21% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Prashanta Nanda of NCP won this seat defeating Pradip Kumar Sahoo of INC by a margin of 10,617 votes which was 9.07% of the total votes polled for the seat.
